Just in: Savannah’s professional hockey team has a new NHL affiliate. The Ghost Pirates announced on Monday that they’re joining the Florida Panthers organization for their third season.
Savannah was previously part of the Las Vegas Golden Knights organization for the past two years, with the Henderson Silver Knights as their AHL affiliate. This move establishes a more regional partnership, with the Panthers in Ft. Lauderdale and the new AHL affiliate in Charlotte.
In May, the Ghost Pirates announced Jared Staal as the organization’s second full-time head coach. Staal comes from the Charlotte Checkers, where he served as an assistant coach.
Previously, Florida was the NHL affiliate of the Florida Everblades, the three-time reigning ECHL champions.
