New recovery center aimed at helping men opens in Savannah

A one-of-a-kind addiction recovery center is now open in Savannah.

The Front Porch Recovery Center opened a couple of days ago with the unique mission to help men overcome their battles with addiction, but this isn’t any ordinary recovery center.

This facility only accepts men and has a unique way of helping them recover from their battle with substance use and addiction.

“It’s a very robust program, with individual and group work,” said Katy and Glenn Parker, Front Porch Recovery Center owners. “We have a menu of individualized services that guys can look at and wonder if they will gravitate towards one of those.”

The facility, located on the edge of Savannah and Port Wentworth, is off-road and out of sight—something Katy and Glen wanted to ensure for their patients.

The owners said privacy and ensuring no disturbance to nearby homes were front of mind during the development stages—a battle with the city of Port Wentworth that they say was not easy.

“The city and the residents didn’t want us here,” said the Parkers. It took about three years, but we are finally here. No one can really see us. We are back here tucked away…trying not to disturb anybody.”

The center allows men to stay at least 30 days, with most programs being at least 90 days.

There are only 6 men at a time, which allows Front Porch to do a lot more one-on-one work and focus on what men may need to get through their recovery process.

Anyone can inquire about what Front Porch does by visiting their website here.

From there, you will have a consultation, and you can also request a visit before admittance.

“Please come in, give us a call; you can come see it, touch it, and feel it yourself,” said the Parkers.
