Matt Eckstine Bio

Matt Eckstine:

Voted Best Local Americana/Folk/Roots Band/Artist – 2022 (Connect Savannah)

Harnessing a wide range of influences from Tom Petty and Jack Johnson to Steve Earle and James Taylor, and straining them through an easy-going filter that embodies life on Coastal Georgia and South Carolina, coupled with imagery invoking that coast, Eckstine has grown from his John Prine influenced roots into a singular singer/songwriter inspired heavily by his home of nearly twenty years.

For years, Eckstine has developed as a songwriter and performer due to the overwhelming support form his local fanbase that encompasses Savannah, Beaufort and Hilton Head. His band, The Accomplices, hit a peak regionally, selling out music halls and earning major support. He now rightfully claims the Lowcountry as his home and his performance space.

Eckstine moved to the Lowcountry from his native Cleveland, Ohio nearly two decades ago. He fronted the wildly popular Americana band The Accomplices—Voted Best Band In Savannah by Savannah Magazine 2015 and 2016—where his craft as a songwriter began to take shape. In 2017, Eckstine released his debut solo album and began a new chapter in his songwriting saga. In 2020, the mandatory quarantine provided Eckstine with an opportunity. Moving to a home studio opened new possibilities for him to slow down and work on his craft, fine tuning unresolved songs and penning new ones. The result was “Lil’ Blue” 8 brand new tracks that vary in sound and feel but are grounded in their influence.

Whether solo or with a backing band, Eckstine mixes up the set list with songs from his solo records, his time with The Accomplices, and a range of choice covers, striving to keep the show energetic and engaging for the audience

Drawing from a vast depth of internal talent, Swamptooth plants one foot firmly in the traditions of bluegrass, keeping a uniquely Southern string sound close to their hearts while bravely progressing the genre beyond its boundaries.

Infectious melodies, technical prowess and powerful songwriting merge from the hands of master musicians with decades of songwriting behind them and a modern sound guiding their future.

Coupling a high-energy, relentless bluegrass sound with the steadfastness of professional, experienced troubadours, Swamptooth embodies an indelible appeal that can ignite the passion of nearly any audience who happens across their path.

Swamptooth was forged in early 2020 around a simple desire to keep playing their instruments while waiting out the unknown variables of a changing world. Comprised of longtime picking partners Cory Chambers (mandolin, vocals) and Jay Rudd (guitar, vocals), along with fiddle virtuoso Vito Gutilla (fiddle, vocals) and Katie Rudd (bass), Swamptooth’s lineup bears several decades worth of seasoned musicianship.

Susanna Kennedy Bio

Susanna Kennedy, who was born in Savannah, Georgia, later moved to Costa Rica with her family as a young child where they pursued missionary work.  She grew up singing in church choirs, learning how to play the classical violin, and belting out musical numbers while washing the dishes with her older sister. Kennedy and her family returned to Savannah when she was in her early 20’s, and she has lived there ever since, finding a home in the music community it has to offer. As an indie/folk singer-songwriter, she enjoys focusing the majority of her creative energy on emotionally evocative melodies and lyrics, spurred on by her belief that music exists as a conduit for emotions that words alone cannot express.
