Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.

Not just the day to find a good mattress sale.
While many view President’s Day as an extra day to relax after the busy week of work and school, however, the history behind the holiday is still a mystery to the majority of them. President’s Day is used to celebrate all American presidents and is a federal holiday.
History
The original name was Washington Day, the holiday was initially created to celebrate one of the founding presidents of the United States, George Washington which fell on his birthday, February. 22.
However, because of an executive order dubbed”the Uniform Monday Holiday Act signed by President Nixon Federal holiday days fall on Mondays, so workers have a three-day weekend. This means that the holiday is moved onto the Monday that falls on the third day in February. There is a belief that this holiday was created to celebrate both presidents of the past Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthdays which both fall during the month of February.
What is it that makes it so popular across the U.S.
Although there’s no traditional method of celebrating the holiday, many immigrants gain U.S. citizenship; U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) holds naturalization ceremonies and welcomes all new U.S. citizens. Museums like those at the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. will offer tours at a discounted rate or for free for visitors during President’s Day weekend. In addition, Alexandria, Virginia, the place where Washington was once a resident, hosts the biggest President’s Day parade. The parade is packed with activities like reenactments of The Revolutionary War, and the “Cherry Challenge,” dedicated to the legend that Washington took down a cherry tree. Restaurants attempt to create the most delicious dessert with a cherry flavor.
